The West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center is known for its research on agronomic crops, with an emphasis on corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat.
UT scientists, along with the USDA Agricultural Research Service researchers, conduct more than one hundred investigations annually to evaluate new cultivars, test and develop technology for more efficient crop production, and ensure sustainable agriculture in a safe, aesthetically pleasing environment. Ornamental horticulture and lawn and landscaping management are featured in the UT Gardens, Jackson, and arboretum.

The West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center devotes much of its 600 acres to researching the major row crops grown in Tennessee. Ten faculty members from three departments are based at the West Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center. UT faculty conduct research in real-world conditions and share their findings with farmers, students, and ag industry professionals.
